So, you see that title and probably think, "Wow, he must not have liked that new Transformers movie, huh? I need to read on and see what his opinion is on this important matter..."
Well, let me say, that could not be further from the truth...if I were to describe the movie in one word, it would have to be "rock". Not in that "Man, I just had my cranium crushed in with a huge rock" way, but in a "Jimmy Page is the all-time king of guitar rock" way. If you have not seen it yet, please do so...now.
It's true, Megatron is not in his classic form...he, instead, is some kind of weird alien type jet thing. I'm not quite sure how he would have acquired that particular jet form, what with the way the denizens of Cybertron created their vehicular alter egos, but whatever...I wasn't going in looking for realism in my gigantic robot action movie.
In the end, Optimus Prime rocked, the visual effects were the best I've ever seen (yes, better then RoTK), and the movie was an outstanding chunk of summer blockbuster goodness.

This movie was fun, but I felt let down on several fronts:
1. A lack of cleavage. If you read any reviews before seeing the movie, the refrain was: "Boys love robots and breasts, and golly does Transformers have a ton of both." It didn't disappoint on the robot front, but where the hell was the cleavage? The only cleavage I saw in the film belonged to Optimus Prime.
2. Not enough Starscream. I'm not a Transformers fanboy, but a little interaction between the Decepticons would have been nice. I understand he flies away during the credits, but the way the final battle was edited, my wife didn't realize that the jet attacking those other planes was one of the bad guys. A scene where he debated releasing Megatron with the other Decepticons might have helped.
3. The ending. Much like the 1986 animated movie, not as many robots die as you're led to believe. What happened to Mountain Dewbot? Or the vicious Air Bag? The final narration suggests the Autobots took care of all evident threats, but isn't there still a crazed soda machine running around Los Angeles dispensing death and free soda to all humans?
I think Megatron's vehicle form was some sort of "top secret unknown government super heli-jet" that might have been located within the same secret location as the flux capacitor, errr allspark.
It is rather interesting for me to read that blog. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to this matter. I definitely want to read a bit more soon.
